For the class on March 5, you will want to read Collier and Stingl, Evolutionary
Naturalism and the Objectivity of Morality
(1993).
You might want to look over my notes for a talk I gave on the topic to
the Faculty graduate student conference in 2002. This is an outline of
the main points. You will find a copy here.
Give it a quick scan. It is in point form, and lays out the main
startegies we use, and some of the arguments.
Finally, our current work, based on the first two chapters of our book,
is here. The
paper is not yet finished, but it addresses the biolological issues
that Binmore tends to take for granted. Some parts are a bit tricky, so
look over it and go into it more if you find anything that interests
you.
